Northvolt

Northvolt is Europe's most ambitious effort to build a sovereign supply chain for lithium-ion battery cells, reducing dependence on Asian manufacturers in the electrification of transport and energy storage. Founded by former Tesla executives, the company operates gigafactory-scale production in northern Sweden powered largely by renewable energy. Its success is critical to ensuring that European automakers and grid operators are not structurally dependent on non-European cell suppliers.
